How I went from landscaping to concrete in Menifee

Before this I ran a small landscaping business, and the concrete jobs were the ones I liked best. I learned the trade working next to experienced finishers, got my own state license and started H&H Menifee Concrete Works in 2017.

Today we're a concrete contractor in Menifee best known for driveways, patios and stamped work. Most of our calls come from homeowners here and in the cities around us, plus some property owners who need bigger slabs poured.

What I care about most is the part you can't see once the concrete is down, like the ground under it and where the joints go. Concrete cracks, and the joints we cut give it a straight, planned place to do that instead of a random one. I'd rather explain that before the job than after it, and I'd rather answer ten questions up front than leave you guessing.

What you can expect when you hire us

These are the things you'll notice about working with us, from the first visit to the day the forms come off. Most of them come down to telling you plainly what's going on with your job.

  • The owner writes your quote

I come out myself to look at your job and write the estimate, and I run the work on site while our crew forms, pours and finishes. The person you talked to in your driveway is the one who answers for the slab from start to finish.

  • Plain answers to every question

Ask as many questions as you like, and you'll get straight answers, even the ones a salesman might skip, like why concrete cracks at all. I'd rather go over a point twice standing in your driveway than have you wondering about it after the pour.

  • Estimates broken into parts

Our estimates list the ground work, the concrete and the finish as separate parts. You can see what you're paying for and line our quote up fairly against someone else's, instead of comparing two totals where one might hide a thin base.

  • The base comes before the finish

The subgrade, the ground your slab sits on, is hidden on day one, so it's the first thing people want to cut from a budget. We dig it out and pack it instead of raking it level, because a slab on loose dirt settles with the dirt and cracks.

Our license, insurance and what the state requires

The state requires a contractor license when a job needs a permit, uses hired workers or runs $1,000 or more in labor and materials. We're fully licensed and insured, with satisfaction guaranteed on every job.

Response time

We reply within one business day.

How a concrete job with us runs, start to finish

Here's how a job goes with us, from your first call to the finished slab. The steps are the same for a small patio or a bigger slab, so you'll know what's coming next.

  1. Call or send the form

Call us at (951) 574-0417 or fill out the form on our contact page with a few lines about your driveway, patio or slab. Expect a reply within one business day, and we'll set a time for me to come out and take a look.

  2. I look and write it up

I come out myself, measure, check what the ground looks like and where the water runs, then write an estimate that shows what's included. It's free and on site, with no pressure and no obligation, so you can take it and compare it with anyone else's.

  3. We sort out the permit

We find out whether the city or the county covers your address, since that decides where a permit comes from. Inside Menifee city limits, that's the City's Building & Safety Division. When your job needs a permit, we handle the application and set up the inspections, and you'll hear about it before work starts.

  4. Our crew pours, I run it

Our crew digs out and packs the base, sets the forms, pours and finishes, and I'm on site running the work. Once it's down, the slab has to cure, a wait while it hardens, so I'll tell you when it's ready to walk on and when you can park on it.
